Ssadendree for Harding Fiddle
Ssadendretr for Norwegian Folk Drum
The album «Systkin» explores two compositions presented from multiple perspectives and in varied versions.
One of the compositions, «Solosooadee», journeys from its original form to a new, related yet distinct expression, sometimes performed on a different instrument, sometimes the same. These reworkings transform the pieces to suit the character of each instrument, while preserving the core essence of the original works. All adaptations were developed in close collaboration with the musicians involved.
«Solosooadee» for solo violin forms the foundation and has been transformed into a lyar tune «Saadendree» for Hardanger Fiddle, in partnership with Hardanger Fiddle player Håkon Høgemo. The piece is dedicated to Endre Rebne (1876–1958), an exceptional halling dancer who inspired the Rebnetaket, a figure in the traditional halling dance. Rebne was also my grandfather, though he passed away long before I was born.
Kjell Tore Innervik offers his version of «Solosooadee» for the traditional Norwegian Folk Drum (slåttetromme) in the piece «Saadendretr».
